Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) 印度洋偶极事件是指发生在印度洋的一种特殊的海气相互作用现象。IOD指数一般定义为热带西印度洋(50~70E,10S-10N)和赤道东南印度洋(90-110E,10S-0)的平均海表温度距平之差。正IOD事件的典型特征是:印度洋东南侧近赤道的海面温度(SST)距平降低,而印度洋西侧近赤道的SST距平偏高。在这种情况下,对流活动在印度洋西侧异常活跃,在东侧则相对萎靡,导致非洲东部出现大规模降水,而印度尼西亚一带却出现干旱,甚至引发森林大火。 (more…)
