Regional Haze Condition on 3 October 2015
Today’s haze is getting worst as the haze dispersed into larger area. Based on the ASMC regional hotspot and haze map on 8pm tonight, “The smoke haze situation in Sumatra has deteriorated further today. Some haze has spread to the Strait of Malacca and the Malay Peninsula. Many parts of Borneo including the western part of Sarawak and Kalimantan remained shrouded in widespread smoke haze.”

Based on the latest Air Quality Index (AQI) update on 8 pm tonight, the PM10 index at Sumatra was at the increasing trend. At 8pm, the AQI at Medan was 353, while Pekanbaru recorded 427. Based on the ASMC wind pattern, the dense haze from Sumatra might reach Peninsular Malaysia very soon.

Latest AQI at Sumatra
Based on BMKG Indonesia Air Pollution reading, the latest Pm10 Index at Medan on 9pm recorded at ‘Hazardous Level’ of 492. At the southern of Medan, PM10 Index of Pekanbaru at 9pm also show ‘Hazardous Level’ of 539. The PM10 index has been increased since early 3 October 2015. They are expected to remain at ‘Hazardous Level’ until end of the day.


Latest AQI at Kalimantan
Based on BMKG data, PM10 index at Pontianak was approaching Hazardous Level at 371 on 8pm tonight. While today’s highest reading still contributed by Palangkaraya, recorded 1917 at 11am. However, no data return from Palangkaraya after reaching the highest index.
