For home (especially with small kids and old folks)

  • Storing some drinking water
  • Prepare some water pail/container in case of water rationing occur at your housing area
  • Figuring out the route to carry the distributed water to your home and the location of storage.
  • Rain water harvesting system (if applicable)
  • Face mask
  • For family member with respiratory problem, suggesting to prepare some N95 mask. However, please learn how to use the mask effectively.
  • Instant food that do not need to cook with water
  • Disposable food container (possibly biodegradable)
  • Disposable diaper for kids and adult (in case of insufficient water to flush toilet)
  • Portable toilet (rather difficult to find it in Malaysia)
  • Paper fan (excessive electrical usage in extreme hot weather might lead to electrical supply shortage during peak time)
  • Learn First aid for heat wave related illness (heat exhaustion, heat stroke, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease)

For Workspace/Public facilities 

  • Water storage tank
  • Considering the waste water collection and reuse
  • Rain water harvesting system
  • Water pails/container for toilet and pantry
  • Face mask
  • N95 mask if workers need to work outdoor for long period of time
  • Drinking water
  • Learning First aid for heat wave related illness (heat exhaustion, heat stroke, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease)
  • Prepare Water Shortage Contingency Plan (especially for Drought Sensitive Industries)
  • Prepare the plan for workers to work from home if state of emergency is announced (communicating, trouble shooting, supporting etc.)

For Agriculture sector

  • Change the crop type to drought resistance species
  • Monitoring the irrigation information if your crop depends on the irrigation system
  • Change cropping cycle/pattern that suite to dry condition for more than 6 months
  • Covered the crop that sensitive to extreme heat and radiation
  • Inform workers about the possibility of drought, discuss Drought Contingency Plan if possible
  • Refresh back the experience of cropping during previous drought event, improve the crop handling and preparation
  • Get advice and support from the government institution
  • Prevention of crop disease outbreak during drought
  • Wise usage of fertilizer and pesticides
