PUTRAJAYA: The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) is conducting a study to ensure cloud seeding operations will be optimised when the El Nino phenomena hits Malaysia.
Its Minister Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin said the Ministry would also take measures to strengthen and streamline the channelling of information on the progress of the phenomena to all Government agencies involved.
“Mosti, through MetMalaysia, will play an important role in providing input – specifically when a change in weather is detected,” he said in a statement here, Monday.
He said although the strength of the phenomenon had yet to be ascertained, all parties had to make preparations early to lessen its impact.
The El Nino phenomena is likely hit in the middle of this year, between June and August.
