KUALA LUMPUR: Several areas in Klang Valley and Perak recorded heavy downpour early this morning, however it did not affect the Air Pollutant Index (API), said Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD).
Its Commercial and Corporate Services division director Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said the showers did not cause significant effect in easing the haze condition as it only lasted for less than an hour in various places.
“There were two formations of rain clouds that occurred over the northern Perak and over Klang Valley region early this morning.
“The rain begin at midnight in northern Perak and at 12.30am over the coastal area of Klang.
“By 2am, the rain clouds extended and cover up to the northern part of Selangor and later on combined with the rain clouds which formed earlier in Perak,” he said, adding that, by 4am there were full rain clouds over the Straits of Malacca, between Selangor and Perak.
Among the areas that received rainfall were Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Kajang, Klang, Port Klang, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Tanjung Malim, Batang Berjuntai, Puchong, and Sungai Buloh.
