PETALING JAYA: Port Klang has taken over the tag of “most hazardous” district.
At 5pm, the Air pollutant Index (API) for the area rose to 319, putting it the hazardous category. The API has been close to the 300 range the whole day.
Visibility was poor as soon as one exited the Federal Highway in Klang, and many people were wearing masks.
Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, who is Port Klang assemblyman, sent a team to distribute 5,000 face masks at the Econsave supermarket in Pandamaran at 11am.
Some 60,000 masks would be distributed in stages throughout the state soon by the Selangor state government.
Other areas with unhealthy air are as follows Batu Muda (189), Cheras (169), Putrajaya (156), Shah Alam (171), Petaling Jaya (196), Banting (209), Port Dickson (193), Kemaman (197), Seri Manjung (171), Tanjung Malim (152).
