News: Waters of Terengganu rivers rise to dangerous levels

KUALA TERENGGANU: The water levels in Terengganu’s main rivers have risen above the danger levels, following heavy rain since last night.

A National Security Council spokesman said the affected rivers were Sungai Setiu, Sungai Besut, Sungai Dungun, Sungai Nerus and Sungai Telemong, Hulu Terengganu.

The water level in Sungai Setiu at Kampung Langkap was recorded at 21.51m, 0.1m above the danger level and still rising.

At Kampung La, the water level in Sungai Besut was at 20.3m, which was above the danger level (19.2m) from 15.9m at the same time yesterday.

The water level in Sungai Dungun at Pasir Raja rose from 34.4m yesterday to 37.5m this morning, above the danger level (30.5m).

At Kampung Lakap, the water level in Sungai Setiu was at 22.56m, 1.06m above the danger level (21.5m).

At Kuala Ping, the water level in Sungai Telemong, Hulu Terengganu rose to 20.41m compared to the danger level of 20m while at Kampung Besut, Setiu, it was at 18.34m, above the alert level (17.4m).
