KUALA LUMPUR: The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) has advised people in three areas in Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Johor, respectively, to be on the alert for floods.
The department said on its portal that rivers had breached the danger level in these areas, namely Hulu Selangor, Gemas and Batu Pahat.
It said that at 3.45 pm, the level of Sungai Bernam at the SKC Bridge in Hulu Selangor was 18.61 metres; Sungai Muar in Rompin, Gemas, 36.43 metres and Sungai Sembrong in Parit Karjo, Batu Pahat, 2.11 metres, all above the danger point.
Meanwhile, the National Security Council said the number of flood evacuees in Selangor was 66, and they were being accommodated at two relief centres – the surau of Kampung Laksamana, Gombak, and the Genting Sanyen hall in Kuala Langat.
It said on its portal that Jalan Sungai Lalang linking Semenyih to Hulu Langat remained closed to all traffic. – Bernama
