JOHOR BARU: A total of 210 people have been evacuated to three relief centres in Batu Pahat after their houses were inundated by flood waters following heavy downpour earlier Saturday.
The National Security Council portal reported that 117 victims from 38 families in Kampung Parit Gantung were evacuated to the relief centre in SK Tiga Serangkai, while 61 others from 12 families in Parit Lapis Laman were placed at the Parit Lapis Laman community hall.
Thirty-two other victims from seven families in Parit Sentang Batu were placed at the Parit Sentang Batu community hall.
Johor Social Welfare Department flood operations room spokesman Khatijah Abdullah, when contacted, said the victims were evacuated in stages.
“We have also distributed basic necessities, such as food, bottled water, pillows and blankets to them as soon as they were evacuated to the relief centres,” she said. – Bernama
